GOVERNANCE INITIATIVE

A partnership with the New York
Internet Society, digital activists and the open
source community to identify and make
available resources for community formation
and governance

mission

Mission

Our mission is to maintain an open source platform comprised of the suite of
tools that can be used for group governance for any purpose.
This initiative will exist to ensure the deliverance of these tools to any group
that desires access.

We emphasize politics as process over prescription. The emagnacarta principles
are an inspiration for possibilities of group governance. Our goal is to give
groups the ability to define their own principles and practice them according
to their own structure.

Following the Symposium, the New York Internet Society &
the Smart Contracts Foundation held a roundtable to
stategize around the role of technology, specifically smart
contracts and the blockchain, in reinventing governance
and rights in the digital space.
We envision this series leading to formation of a civic body;
a community of lawyers, hackers, activists and civic
leaders, meeting together on a regular basis to build out
the tools necessary to create this future.
The goal of the session was to develop a plan for imple-
menting the Charter using smart contracts on Ethereum.
Our current focus is on developing the open source set of
tools groups can use to govern themselves.
